1. Introduction

Selekt Audio ("we," "us," or "our") operates a platform for music producers that includes a curated sample library, marketplace, community challenges, and AI-powered audio tools. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect your personal information when you use the Selekt Audio platform, website, and related services (collectively, the "Service").

By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

2. Information We Collect

Account Information. When you create an account, we collect your email address, username, and display name. Authentication is handled through Supabase Auth.

Profile Information. You may optionally provide additional profile details such as a bio and avatar image.

Usage Data. We collect information about how you interact with the Service, including samples you browse, download, and favorite, as well as your listening history and search queries.

Payment Information. Payments are processed by third-party payment processors. We do not store your credit card numbers or full payment credentials. We may receive transaction confirmations, purchase history, and billing details from our payment providers.

Audio Uploads. When you use tools such as key detection or stem separation, you may upload audio files for processing. These files are processed in real time and are not retained on our servers unless you explicitly choose to save the results to your account.

Device and Browser Information. We automatically collect technical information including your IP address, browser type, operating system, device identifiers, and referring URLs for analytics, security, and service improvement purposes.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

Provide, maintain, and improve the Service and its features
Process marketplace transactions and manage your account
Send you notifications about new sample drops, challenge updates, and platform announcements
Analyze usage patterns to improve content recommendations and personalize your experience
Detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, abuse, and unauthorized access

4. Information Sharing

Public Profile. Your username, display name, bio, and avatar are visible to other users on the platform. Marketplace listings you create are publicly accessible.

No Sale of Personal Data. We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

Service Providers. We share information with trusted third-party providers who assist us in operating the Service, including:

Authentication providers — to securely manage user accounts, sign-in, and session management.
Cloud hosting and storage providers — to store and deliver audio files, metadata, and application data.
Payment processors (such as Stripe, PayPal, and/or Gumroad) — to process subscriptions and marketplace transactions. These providers may receive your name, email, and billing information as necessary to complete transactions. We do not store your credit card numbers.
Analytics providers — to understand usage patterns and improve the Service.
Content delivery networks — to deliver audio and media content efficiently worldwide.

These providers are contractually obligated to use your data only to perform services on our behalf and in accordance with this Privacy Policy. We do not send user audio to external AI services — all audio analysis (key detection, BPM analysis, stem separation, instrument classification) is performed using open-source models running on our own infrastructure.

Legal Requirements. We may disclose your information if required to do so by law, regulation, legal process, or enforceable governmental request, or when we believe disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, safety, or property of Selekt Audio, our users, or the public.

5. Cookies & Tracking

Essential Cookies. We use authentication cookies to keep you signed in and maintain your session. These are required for the Service to function.
Analytics. Our analytics are cookieless and first-party: we measure aggregate, anonymized usage only — no tracking cookies, no cross-site identifiers, and no IP address or personal data stored. Because no tracking cookie is set, there is nothing you need to opt out of.
No Advertising Cookies. We do not use third-party advertising cookies or tracking pixels.

6. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your personal information, including encryption of data in transit via TLS/SSL, secure authentication protocols, and access controls on our infrastructure. While no system is completely secure, we are committed to protecting your data and promptly addressing any security concerns.

8. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. If you delete your account, we will remove your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law or necessary for legitimate business purposes such as resolving disputes or enforcing our agreements.

Audio you upload to the creator tools — Drop the Needle, Audio to MIDI, Stem Lab, the copyright checker and similar tools — is handled separately and kept only as long as it takes to run the tool. Your file is stored in a private, non-public bucket, is used solely to produce your result, and is deleted automatically within approximately 24 hours. We do not add your uploads to the Selekt catalog, publish them, sell them, or use them to train models. Files the tools generate for you stay available for a limited window — between 24 and 72 hours depending on the tool — so you can download them, and are then deleted as well.

A short record of each job — the filename, when it ran, and whether it succeeded — is kept in your account history so you can revisit past results. Separately, when you run a copyright check we write a signed, tamper-evident record of that scan to a write-once audit log: the verdict, the confidence score, and a hash of the disclaimers shown to you. That record is intentionally permanent, because its purpose is to prove what was checked and when. It contains no audio.

9. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected such information, we will take steps to delete it promptly. 10. International Users

The Service is operated from and data is processed in the United States. If you access the Service from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States. By using the Service, you consent to this transfer and processing.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by posting the updated policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. For significant changes, we may also send a notification to the email address associated with your account. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
