Public domain — copyright has expired or never applied, so the work belongs to everyone.
CC0 — the creator waived all rights, effectively placing the work in the public domain.
CC-BY — the creator allows commercial use as long as you credit them (your certificate shows who and how).

On top of that licensing foundation, every sample is also screened against 150M+ commercial recordings by audio fingerprinting — the same core technology behind Shazam — to catch anything mislabeled, and ships with a certificate logging the source, license, and screening result.
