Public domain — copyright has expired or never applied, so the work belongs to everyone.
CC0 — the creator waived all rights, effectively placing the work in the public domain.
CC-BY — the creator allows commercial use as long as you credit them (your certificate shows who and how).

Every catalog sound must then pass the clearance screen appropriate to its source. Open-upload and archive material is checked by audio fingerprinting before admission. Qualifying public-domain collections are verified through source authority and publication-date eligibility, because a documented public-domain recording does not need to be treated like an unknown upload. The certificate records the source, license, and screening path used.
