MP3 to MIDI converter

Turn a recording into notes you can edit, revoice, and arrange. Bring one isolated instrument for a direct conversion, or bring a finished song and let Selekt separate the parts before transcribing them.

Path 01 · mixed recording

Turn a full song into individual MIDI parts

A single converter cannot reliably untangle a mixed song. Selekt's Workshop Complete first separates detected instruments into audio stems, then transcribes each melodic stem on its own. Drum MIDI is built from detected kit elements. You get files you can inspect and edit in your DAW—not a claim that every note in the original recording will be recovered.

MP3, WAV, FLAC, M4A, OGG — one track at a time, up to 200MB

Also accepts WAV, FLAC, M4A, and OGG. Selecting a file opens Workshop with Complete selected; you review the credit cost and confirm before processing begins. Results depend on which parts the separation detects.

What a Complete run can return
  • Separate audio stems for detected parts
  • Individual MIDI files for detected melodic parts
  • Drum-groove MIDI when kit elements are detected
  • MusicXML, chords, key, and BPM where available
Path 02 · isolated recording

Already have one instrument? Convert it here.

Upload an isolated MP3 or WAV, choose the instrument, preview the extracted notes, and download a .mid. Guitar, vocal, and melody modes run free on your device. Bass, piano, and drums use cloud models; their credit costs are shown on the mode cards.

What makes the two paths different?

An isolated part is the cleanest input

With one instrument already separated, the converter can focus on its pitch, timing, and dynamics. It does not need to guess which instrument played each note.

A full song needs separation first

Workshop Complete creates stems before transcription. It processes the resulting parts individually, so bass, piano, vocals, and other detected parts do not all compete in one note detector.

MP3-to-MIDI is transcription, not a lossless file conversion. MIDI contains notes rather than the original sounds. Plan to review the output in your DAW, particularly on dense mixes, effects-heavy parts, and low-bitrate MP3s.

MP3 to MIDI questions

Can I turn a full MP3 song into separate MIDI tracks?
Yes. Choose the full-song path. Selekt Complete separates the mix first, then transcribes detected melodic stems individually. It also attempts a full-mix MIDI draft and drum-groove MIDI. The result is an editable starting point, not a guaranteed reconstruction of every instrument.
Is MP3 to MIDI free?
An isolated guitar, vocal, or melody can be converted free in your browser. Isolated bass, piano, and drums use cloud models and cost credits. A full song uses the paid Workshop Complete separation and transcription workflow; its price is shown before you start processing.
Is MIDI the same as an MP3?
No. An MP3 contains recorded sound. MIDI contains editable note and performance instructions that you play through an instrument in a DAW. Conversion estimates those instructions from the recording; it does not change the audio file format.
Will the MIDI match the recording perfectly?
No. Clear, isolated parts generally transcribe better than dense, distorted, or reverberant ones. Some detected parts may be absent or need note, timing, or octave edits after download.

Only upload music you have permission to process. MIDI transcription does not grant rights to someone else's recording or composition.
