Stem splitter & separator
The most complete stem separator & splitter online
Upload any song and get back up to 16 isolated stems — then Selekt keeps going where every other stem splitter stops: MIDI, editable MusicXML notation, chord charts, key & BPM, and a copyright screen against 150M+ recordings. It runs online in your browser — no plugin, no software to install.

Hear the complete mix, then audition up to 16 isolated stems—including vocals, instrumental, drums, bass, guitar, piano, woodwinds, and individual drum parts when detected.
More than a four-stem separator
Most splitters stop at vocals, drums, bass, and “other.” Selekt can return up to 16 downloadable stems: vocals, instrumental, drums, bass, guitar, piano, woodwinds, and other, plus separate kick, snare, hi-hat, tom, ride, and crash lanes when those instruments are detected. Read our guide to how audio stems and instrument separation work.
Depending on the depth you choose, the same upload can also produce:
- Optional denoise before the separation begins.
- Full-mix and per-stem MIDI, so you can edit or re-voice individual musical parts instead of transcribing each stem by hand.
- MusicXML notation — an editable score you can open in MuseScore, Sibelius, or Dorico to read, edit, or print the part.
- Chord chart — the timed chord progression, detected automatically.
- Key & BPM detection — the musical key, scale, tempo, and timing information needed to build around the result.
- Whole-track copyright screeningagainst 150M+ commercially released recordings on Complete + ACR, with every section checked rather than only one excerpt.
- Every format — download each stem and file in WAV, MP3, FLAC, M4A, or OGG.
- Find similar (AI) — match any stem to cleared sounds in the Selekt library by how it actually sounds, and combine them in Stem Lab.
What each one gets you — on Selekt & in your own DAW
Stems
On Selekt: pull a clean acapella or instrumental, sample a bassline, send the drums to Drum Kit. In your DAW: drag each isolated part straight into your project.
MIDI & MusicXML
On Selekt: re-voice any part with a different instrument in Stem Lab. In your DAW or notation app: edit the notes, swap the sound, or read and print the score.
Chords, key & BPM
On Selekt: build a new track around the progression and find sounds that fit the key. In your DAW: match tempo, mix harmonically, and write parts that sit in the same key.
Find similar + copyright screen
On Selekt: match your stem to cleared library sounds and combine them; screen your finished track before release. Anywhere: walk away knowing exactly what you have and where it stands.

How it works
1. Drop in a track
MP3, WAV, FLAC, M4A, or OGG up to 200MB. Your audio is processed on isolated GPU instances, stays private to your account, and is auto-deleted after 72 hours.
2. AI separates & enriches
A multi-stage process isolates the stems, transcribes the parts to MIDI and MusicXML, detects the chords, key, and BPM, and — on Complete + ACR — screens the whole track for copyright.
3. Download & build
Grab every stem and file in the format you want, drag them into your DAW, or keep building on Selekt — re-voice a stem in Stem Lab or re-skin the drums in Drum Kit.
Frequently asked questions
Is there a free stem splitter online?
Yes — you can try Selekt’s stem splitter with the free trial, right in your browser. There is no plugin to load into a DAW and no software to download or install. Browsing the cleared catalog, where every track already ships with separated stems, is free too.
How do I separate the instruments from a song?
Upload the song and the AI separates the instruments into individual stems — vocals, bass, guitar, piano, woodwinds, drums, and more — each one downloadable on its own. Mute the vocal for an instrumental, take the vocal alone for an acapella, or pull just the part you want.
What do I get back — just stems?
Far more than stems. Beyond up to 16 isolated stems, Selekt transcribes the parts to MIDI, scores them to editable MusicXML notation, detects the chord progression, and reads the key and BPM — and on the Complete + ACR tier it screens the whole track against 150M+ recordings before you release. It is the same engine that enriches every track in the Selekt catalog.
Can I hear a stem-separation demo before I upload?
Yes. The prepared demo lets you play the complete mix, reveal the separation, and audition each detected stem before uploading your own track. It demonstrates the same browser-based result layout, including vocals, instrumental, drums, bass, guitar, piano, woodwinds, other instruments, and separate drum parts when they are detected.
Do I need a plugin or audio separation software?
No. Selekt is online audio separation — the heavy lifting runs on our GPUs and the finished stems and files stream back to your browser. There is no stem-splitter plugin to install in your DAW and no separation software to set up on your machine.
Can I get an acapella or instrumental from a song?
Yes. The vocals stem is your acapella; the ready-made instrumental is everything but the vocal. Because separation is per-stem, you can also isolate just the drums, just the bass, just the piano, and so on.
Is my audio kept private?
Yes. Uploads are processed on isolated GPU instances, stay private to your account, and are auto-deleted after 72 hours. Selekt does not store or listen to your audio.
