A synth loop is the easiest thing in a track to spot as a stock sample. Leads, arps, and plucks carry so much of a preset's fingerprint — the same Serum wavetable, the same factory chorus, the same supersaw detune — that a borrowed line shows up in a hundred other uploads before yours. The fix isn't avoiding synth loops. It's treating them as raw waveform you can pull apart and rebuild.
Everything here is recorded audio, not a patch, so what you get is a printed line you can chop, pitch, resample, and run back through your own chain. Sidechain a pluck to your kick, bandpass an arp into a riser, take four bars of a lead and keep one note. The source can be common; the version you ship doesn't have to be.

Re-voicing a synth loop so it stops sounding like the preset
Because these are audio, you're not stuck with the patch the original was played on — you're working with the print, which is more flexible. Resample the loop back into a sampler and you can re-pitch the whole phrase, formant-shift it off its original character, or stretch it into a pad bed that no longer reads as a lead. Run it through a different reverb and a touch of saturation and the front-of-the-sound that everyone recognizes gets buried.
The heavier moves are subtractive. Pull a multiband down on the high mids and a bright supersaw lead becomes a darker, rounder thing. Bitcrush an arp lightly and it sits like a lo-fi texture instead of a clean melody. The point is to keep the notes and the timing — the part that's musically useful — while replacing the timbre that makes it identifiable.
Chopping a synth line into a hook
A four-bar arp or lead is usually one or two great notes surrounded by filler. Slice the loop at transients, throw out everything but the strongest cells, and rearrange them — a three-note motif you built from someone else's phrase is your motif. Pitch individual slices up an octave for a topline answer, or reverse one into the bar before a drop.
Plucks chop especially well because each note already has a hard attack and a short tail, so the slice points are obvious and the cells stay clean with no bleed. Map them across a sampler and you can play a new melodic pattern out of the loop's own notes, which keeps everything in the source's key and tuning without any manual pitch-matching.
Layering synths without turning the mix to mud
Stacking two synth loops is the fastest way to make a lead feel wide and expensive, but two full-range parts fight for the same space and the stereo image collapses. Split them by register and role instead: keep one as the mono low-mid body and high-pass the other to live above 2 kHz as the air and detail. A small timing or pitch offset between the layers does the widening on its own.
Arps and pads layer best as background to a dry mono lead up front — the movement sits underneath, the hook stays centered and legible.
